Moviegoers have a new reason to go to the theaters and watch movies, breaking the trend of more and more people staying at home and just watching movies on their flat-screens. The reason for this would be that a numerous amount of movies are now in 3D. This new craze is not brand new.

3D movies have existed since the 1950s, but filmmakers did not use it very much because it was too expensive. However, film companies are now using 3D to make movies more real. Critics are saying that this could be as big as when color was added to movies.

So far, the numbers have been high for the new movies that have come out in 3D. Many recently released movies the last couple months have added 3D to try and enhance the movie and make it more enjoyable for the moviegoer. For example, Avatar, Alice in Wonderland, Toy Story 3, and many, many more are now in 3D.

Some people say that it feels like you are in the movie when you watch it in 3D. That is because 3D enhances the depth perception of the movie. This makes it feel like parts of the movie are coming towards you.

Yes, tickets are more expensive to go to a movie in 3D. And yes, you still have to wear the corny looking glasses. But why not do this once in awhile to make going to a movie a different experience.

3D might make watching the movie better, or it might not, but that is for you to decide.
