Music has always been an influential expression of the human soul. It can chronicalize the world or shine light on what an artists opinion on what they think should happen or change. Whether your young or old, weve all got that one song. That one song that can break you down, fill your soul with love or even bring the sunshine to you in your darkest time.

The magic of music is that it can compel you to reach out and give to those who need it, to release your anger in a useful way. John Lennon dreamed of a more perfect world. But can that really ever happen? Some say yes, some say no. Michael Lang, John Roberts, Joel Rosenman and Artie Korfeld thought so. Theyre the brains behind the Woodstock Music Festival, informally known as 3 Days of Peace and Music. Maybe what the world needs is just another really good weekend to learn

I’m sure all of us within the past couple of months have had Foster the People’s single “Pumped Up Kicks” on repeat. It seemed as though this song and the band came out of nowhere. In actuality the band really is very new. They formed in Los Angeles in 2009. Their name comes from lead vocalist Mark Foster. They originally called themselves Foster & The People, but many misunderstood them and started calling them Foster the People. The band liked it and so did the fans so they went with it. Their first single, which was “Pumped Up Kicks,” ended up being wildly successful. We all know the songs signature bass line and whistling. Many didn’t know what the song was about at first. Even though the song seems very upbeat the lyrics depict a teens angry thoughts. The lyrics, “All the other kids with the pumped up kicks you better run, better run, outrun my gun” are an example. This song has

Only a few weeks after announcing his retirement from his long time career as a main commentator on “60 Minutes”, Andy Rooney died last Friday night after complications with a minor surgery. CBS reports he died only a month after delivering his 1097th and final televised commentary. Rooney was 92 years old.

Andrew Aitken Rooney was born on January 14, 1919 in Albany, New York. He worked as a copy boy on the Albany Kickerboxer News while in high school. He attended college at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York until the beginning of World War II. He then started working at Stars and Stripes where his writing career began by co-writing four books about the war. Rooney and his wife, Marguerite, were married for 62 years before she died of heart failure in 2004. The couple had four children.

Rooney started out as a freelance writer and in 1949 he met CBS radio star, Arthur Godfrey, in an elevator and bluntly told him his show could use better writing. Four years later, Godfrey hired Rooney and he began writing for the network. In the early 1960’s, he settled into
